Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a controversial Hindu temple in the city of Ayodhya.
The shrine was built on grounds where a mosque stood for centuries.
That was destroyed by Hindu activists in 1992.
In elections in 2014, Modi campaigned with a promise to build a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Ram, on the very site of the demolished mosque.
With the temple's consecration coming only months ahead of a national election - opposition leaders accuse him of exploiting religion to win political favour.

As a Christian in India, I think Hindus are very nice and friendly people. I also enjoy their epic narratives - the Ramayan and Mahabharat. These stories have entered the collective consciousness of everyone living in India. Every child knows the story of Ram, Sita, Hanuman, Pandav, Kaurav, Draupadi, Karna, Eklavya, etc.They are like the ancient epics of Europe but more alive since these deities are still worshipped. Europe forgot its ancient gods after converting to Christianity.

- Muslim Area: When Muslim population is 50% & Hindu population is also 50%.
