This is what I always like about Kakashi's character. He was never meant to be a "super powerful-I will protect you whatever happened" or the famous "I'll come up with a fuckin cold entrance to save you when you almost die" type of sensei. He was meant to be a teacher, teaching, and the student, improving (except for our lovely Sakura). Him and Iruka are always going to be respected, no matter the universe nerfed them, because without them, Naruto will probably in the Akatsuki slaying people here and there.
*Oh, and even more respect that Kakashi indirectly help to bring Sasuke back, which was basically "a Madara in the making".... I mean Naruto was indeed the one who stops him, but yeah I think everybody agrees that Kakashi played a big role in that too
