DESCRIPTION :

Raw mango rice is a lightly spiced and tangy flavored rice dish, made with sour
mangoes. It is a very popular dish in the southern parts of India. It makes for a light
flavorful and simple meal. It also goes by the name of ‘maanga saadam’ or ‘mavinakaai
chitranna’, or ‘mamidikaya pulihora’ etc, depending on the region.

INGREDIENTS :

Oil – 3 tablespoons

Urad dal / Black gram dal -3 teaspoons

Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon

Curry leaves – a handful, fresh

Onions – 1 cup, finely chopped

Red chillies – 1 small cup, slit

Raw mango – 1 cup, grated

Steamed rice – 1 bowl, freshly cooked

Salt – as per taste

Coriander leaves – for garnish, finely chopped

PROCEDURE :

Heat the oil in a wok.

Add the urad dal, mustard seeds, curry leaves, onions and red chillies while mixing well.

Add the grated raw mango, followed by the steamed rice and mix well.

Add salt as per taste

Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
