Tesla's Homo-polar Motor or Faraday Disk Motor in action

In this video I demonstrate the operation of the Faraday Disk Motor. The motor consists out of a copper disk sandwiched between two of the magnets in attraction mode. How the motor functions is very difficult to explain using conventional views of magnetism. I think that this motor demonstrates that the very nature of magnetism is rotational, not static or stationary (as we were taught).

If the polarity on the motor is reversed it will spin in the opposite direction! The very nature of magnetism is rotational.

If you take a man made magnet that also is a conductive metal... can that metal made magnet disk touch the copper disk with no form in electrical separation of the two? Turn it to still get electricity, or put electricity into to make it turn???

Nice build. As a generator this set up generates a lot of current and only a small voltage. A much thinner disc will reduce the capacity of the disc to carry current and reduce the draw from the battery, fatter wires or multiple wires will reduce the heating in the wires and leads. Of course a fatter axle will help too. If you want to generate power, then your thick disc will work better than a thin one, but you will need much better bearings as the higher the speed, the more power out you will get. When the disc reaches saturation (completely fills with current at high speed) then the induction that reduces power in a traditional generator (the back EMF) will actually join the current flow and many builders report more power out than the motor needs to turn the disc. Also reported is directly powering one magnet, or spinning one magnet to generate power. But if it gets hot, it will demagnetize. The contact sparking is a common problem, get creative to improve the current transfer.

What if you used thin copper plates tightly stacked with staggered holes and spun them like a Tesla turbine with flowing liquid or gas at extremely high RPMs on a graphite axle?

How did you get the copper disk man? been trying to build one of these myself but its so hard to get the copper disk.. Have you tried getting power from this instead? you can use 6 volts, it will be less violent, most important it guzzles amps not volts..

Faraday paradox, The apparent magnetic induction which occurs between the ---->co-rotating<---- disk and magnet.
The magnets and disk can spin at the same time and still produce power, this is the real mystery to be investigated.

Shorting out a battery is a bad idea. You need a power source that is very low in voltage, high in current. How about make 2 of them. Use one as generator, one as motor?

Won't this work without the magnets. Only the copper disk needs to spin.

Hi, thanks for working on the whole homopolar generator. I just got done reading Thomas vallone book on it. I have a suggestion about improving the voltage of the Dynamo. It occurred to me while thinking about kirchhoff's laws first and second. That's if you use the electrostatic electricity from the environment and added it to the amperage of the homopolar generator you would not violate kirchhoff's second law and the law conservation, since the available voltage in the environment is more than the total Watts input of the homopolar generator motor, then the voltage from the environment would rush to meet the wattage requirements of the the conservation of energy operating in the homopolar generator, yet these would be mostly voltage. By using open system thermodynamics such as as used to explain the operation of the homopolar generator, we can satisfy kirchhoff's first and second laws and the conservation of energy in an isolated system. Since the capacity of the Earth is larger then the current in the homopolar generator and since the power from the Earth's atmosphere comes from the sun, the homopolar generator would be the smaller of the two Energies.In this way we can give local amp hours 2 the high electric field in the environment around us. What are you doing?! Faraday´s homopolar is a GENERATOR! You must rotate the disk - in your case/configuration you should rotate the disks AND the magnets (otherwise they will serve as a break) and get power from your terminals. Very low voltage but big current. If you want it as a motor, ok, use a battery, for source, but with no more than 0.5V. Very hard to make it. You are just short circuiting your battery.

Why don't you create a proper circuit by installing a high power resistor in series with your circuit to create a current limited circuit? Doing so will reduce the current that is applied to your motor.

p.s.: When you run DC through copper, a magnetic field will be created. That magnetic field will interact with the fields of your magnets to create motion. That motion will create Eddy currents to be created & those Eddy currents will also create magnetic fields that will repel your magnets & create motion. Lenz law is related to the motion of those Eddy currents fields.

tesla's unipolar/homopolar generator/motor didn't like u did bro, everybody was miss conception/interpretation about this including u, tesla never show the detail about it, but he was show it trough his protteges otis t carr, otc x1 flying saucers powered and work by homopolar generator principe, mixed electromagnetic and electrostatic principe, rotary electromagnetic pulse alumunium hv plate capacitor, opposite rotary direction between both. for the detail u can learn and search about it.

Why don't you just use some lithium batteries are lithium ions or Hell a 9-volt or even 10 9 volts
