I think that by May of '43 Hitler was pretty much screwed. He had lost Stalingrad and his forces were falling back across the Eastern front. Maybe if I had more knowledge beforehand about the battle of Kursk I could maintain the initiative, and could prevent the Holocaust from really being kicked into high gear, but even then I think that with just 2 years before the end of the war, too many bridges had been burned for the situation to be salvageable. The Soviets aren't going to forgive you, and with the Americans already having joined the Allies you now have most of the world's industrial production ranged against you.

I'd pick the hobo. As long as I'm not mentally ill or afflicted with some sort of serious disease I think I'd have a much better chance at turning my life around, even if I don't get inherited by the rich guy.

The correct answer, by the way, is Hobo.

Simply put, by April 30th 1943 things were already going really bad for the Third Reich. They'd lost Stalingrad, the American War Machine and Industrial bases is already in full motion and the Brits were upping their bombardment. The German Empire was already burdened by a lot of shortages (raw materials, labour, food). Even if you manage somehow to pull a hat trick off and (for example) stop D-Day the US is just going to drop atomic bombs on you, or do D-Day take two a few months latter in Denmark.

Pretty much as Hitler your day would be people coming to you saying "mein fuhrer, we need you to resolve X" and even if you can resolve X today things are going to get worse with a thousand more Xs that you can't as things get worse and worse and worse. Two years of frustration, fear and dread as the inevitability of your defeat. Leaving aside the fact that your regime is still killing and butchering innocents in the thousands.

At least as a Hobo you have some hope of the Rich Guy and you're not being hounded by staff officers in a doomed war.
