My neighbor just got his roof fixed from the one that hit us in New Orleans 2 years ago. It’s ridiculous. Hurricane Katrina, I wasn’t able to come home for 2 months. And I’m the same at my new house, hospital grid…. Which is so nice. Our power comes on faster.

I'm praying for all of you. My ex husband was stationed in Goose Creek, SC, when Hugo hit. I had just had an emergency c-section 5 days before with my 1st baby. It was the roughest and longest ride out of there. What usually took 3 hours to get to my Grandmas took 12 hours because of everyone leaving. I'm so thankful we left because our apartment was destroyed. Water was up past my babies crib. Also, a tree came through our big window in the living room. We lost everything. It was 2 weeks before the power was restored. Yall stay safe and keep us posted, please. I'm in SC, and we are getting a lot of storms from it. I'm praying not bad. Praying for all who will be affected.

We invested in a big generator that runs off natural gas and powers the whole house. I think it was 10-12k installed and it’s the very best investment in our home that we have made!

From Manitoba, Canada and I know a few linesmen that have been sent down to the states when a hurricane has hit to help out. Pretty crazy that even people from Canada are going down there to help out with the aftermath of hurricanes

When we lived in the apartment we used bags of ice to keep the fridge and freezer cold, a couple of bags is good for 2-3 days, and for power, I used a couple of UPS units that would charge phones and power a lamp.
