Is Pixar's Win or Lose Even Good...?

A new Pixar TV Series just dropped! And after the accolades of Dream Productions, the Inside Out 3 project, I was pretty damn hyped for this show! It's an anthology series surrounding a baseball event with a bunch of characters each getting their own episode and exploration of problems. And I LOVE an overlapping timeline. That being said, this show is already steeped in controversy surrounded Disney's politics around a certain character, not to mention some of the executions of the show. Here are all of my thoughts in this review of the first 2 episodes where we discuss: Is Pixar's Win or Lose Even Good...?

Missed opportunity to put "Is Pixar's Win or Lose a win or lose?"

I personally really loved this project! I didn't really think about the trope of getting made fun of online being so overdone bc it's still so relevant, but that's a valid critique, and I also just really like how they tell the same story but also multiple at the same time seen from all kinds of different perspectives which I think is the most powerful part of the show bc it's such a subtle but effective way of communicating that everyone sees things differently and our version of reality isnt always 100% the truth and is often warped by our perspective, overall a really good way of showing how everyone has their own things going on! some things can 100% be improved but this is honestly one of the few things by Disney that still feel like Disney to me

Why tf does he think this show is only/specifically aimed towards kids? Y’know Pixar is for ALL audiences right?

It’s weird that you keep assuming this show is for an exclusively kid audience, when it’s Pixar, which is notorious for making things for all ages. Just cuz it’s animated doesn’t mean it’s only for children.

Where on earth did you pull them saying that traditional dating is better than online dating? He just went after the person that he broke things off because he realized that was a mistake, that had nothing to do with online dating being “Terrible”. I swear people are hating on anything Disney makes because it’s a trend now. Most of the stuff they’ve released is terrible, but this is one of the few great things they’ve made recently.

I respect your opinions, but I couldn't disagree more. I love this show and I can't wait to see it to the end.
My only complaint (which I can easily ignore for the most part) is that it has the same art style as Turning Red, and Luca, and Elio, and The Bad Guys, and...

I was going into this series expecting it to be terrible, because my only exposure to it was Pixar's Instagram page, where they post out of context clips that make the writing look really cringe and awkward. I just gave the first 4 episodes a watch last night, and I was pleasantly surprised. I agree that the first episode was a little rough and I thought Sweaty was kind of boring and like a lamer version of Inside Out 2's representation of mental health issues. However, I really liked the personality of the girl afflicted by Sweaty (can't remember her name tbh), and the idea that the pressure she felt from her dad and team were what made her so anxious. I really liked the second episode, and how the umpire guy (is that what his role is called?) had armor as a physical manifestation of his emotional walls being up. But by episodes 3 and 4, I was really invested. I won't spoil anything in case people want to see it first, but the character and her relationship with her mom vs her classmates, and her mom's struggles, were really interesting and compelling to me.

I personally really liked his this show is supposed to relate to older people. this doesn't feel like it's supposed to be targeted to younger kids, but older teenagers at around 15, and the way that the episodes show everyone's perspective so well is so cool to me.

The barista has genuinely the worst character design I’ve ever seen

Honestly I think the show is pretty goated, I really liked the first 2 episodes so far, the visuals look nice, the characters are pretty likable and relatable, overall I think the show is good and I don’t get the hate. It’s a simple show and I don’t think the simplicity is bad. I think the show could get a lot better over the next episodes.

if they wanted a cool style they should've experimented with 2d animation but knowing disney they'd not touch that with a ten foot pole

While I like the character design and how they’re trying to be more cartoon-y, the bean smiles work better with “The Bad Guys”, since that draws inspiration from “Lupin III”. So much so, one of the lead animators of “The Bad Guys” was previously an animator for “Lupin III: The First”.

Also, “The Bad Guys” and “Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time” both share this guy named Joshua Brock.

Meaning “The Bad Guys” is truly the closest thing we’ll ever get to a “Sly Cooper” movie.

All these YouTube channels critiquing movies/shows wanting so badly to prove that they're cinema geniuses

Hm idk maybe it's just me, but i feel like ever since Puss in Boots 2 featuring that scene where Puss has a panic attack/anxiety attack, almost every movie from every animation studio has been including anxiety attacks in their productions or making anxiety a strong subject of the plot. It's getting kind of annoying and overdone.
