Just discovered this myself recently, the quality of the paper makes all the difference in watercolors. I've been struggling with watercolors for some time until a friend said its my paper, something so simple that I didn't think the paper could possibly make that much of a difference, but it does and I've been enjoying watercolors so much more now and feel better about what I'm creating.

enjoyed the basic of this book, agree with you woohoo too much. tried 1 lesson so far, I need better paper. I don't buy books but this would be a good 1. can't wait for 'how to paint abstracts' next month.

Hi, Julie. Would you recommend this book to a novice? I watched your video and enjoyed your honest evaluation with samples and quotes and love your sense of humor. I’ve done lots of other crafting but never actually done any kind of (drawing or) painting except on the walls of my home! I have, however, many times held a paintbrush in my hand above a piece of wc paper and wondered what to do. To watercolor is a dream of mine but with no idea of the ratio of water to paint, how to handle the brush or where to begin I just pack things away and hope I’ll have a revelation somehow. Any suggestion on this book or another source?
