I don't understand why all this power yet the OS kills background processing apps. when I render a video and upload I need to keep the app active and cannot switch to any other app until the process is finished. if Apple does not fix this then upgrading to newer iPads does not make sense at all.

Just a fun fact: Apple didn’t invent the term Tandem OLED. There’s a research paper using the term “tandem organic light emitting devices” (which is basically the same) that was published on 2016.

However, Apple is to be the first company to openly advertise it as a standout feature, making it seem like they invented it. And that’s very likely on purpose from them.

This is a refreshingly honest commentary on Apple and the latest iPad releases - great work!

Unless you are a wealthy person from silicon valley, I have no idea who buys the ipad M4 when you can have a macbook air M3 as lightweight as ipad + keyboard, having twice the battery life, being much more durable for the same price. If you really want the touch screen, you buy the least expensive ipad as well and you are good to go.

Same old super-limited IpadOS but it's 50% faster than a M2. Why? For what?

I really wish I could apply the new ipad to the desktop applications i currently use. I think it would be fantastic. Plug into a big monitor, do some work. Grab the ipad and take it to the park and do some more work. The form factor is perfect for that. Could do it with a laptop but the ipad with a pencil and touch would be so much better. But alas, no such software is available. Can’t even format an external harddrive or even see how much room is left on that harddrive. I am so ready to make the jump from laptop to ipad. Just can’t. So hard to justify the ipad cost.

I know I’m not alone in my appreciation of this video. You have articulated all my observations and concerns.

What about marginnote 4? Are you going to review it?

I'm curious why you are saying the M2 Ipad Pro is ridiculously slow? I have one and it doesn't seem slow to me.

This is the most comprehensive 2024 iPad video that I have seen. I agree 100% on your thoughts. Literally a bunch of fluff! They are in deep with those overpriced goggles and trying really hard to get into our pocket. I use an M1 Air, M1 MacMini Apple Watch 5 and a iPhone 14. I will wait for the iPhone 16 to upgrade to a 15pro specifically for content creation. After listening to your voice and your argument, I will ONLY upgrade when the software requires it..

Thank you for the video, very interesting!

As a side note (pretty much off-topic haha): can I ask if you will do a review of the new Margin Note 4? :)

I agree with the Apple always setting up the scenario where they shot a whole movie on an iPhone or an iPad or combination it’s not happening if you’re a YouTube creator maybe. I will most likely be buying one of the new iPads. But the main reason is because I have not had one in years. my last iPad did not have the pencil basically my iPhone and iMac did everything I needed it to. but I do want to get into keeping a digital journal and things like that because over the last few years a lot of written down things that I had got destroyed and I would like to have something when I do it it’s in the cloud so for me an iPad with the pencil it’s worth it to buy one now because I’m not upgrading from anything if I had say one that was one to two years old I definitely would not even worry about upgrading. do I want to get the I know whatever I get I will probably use it and then pass it on to somebody else. I usually tend to get the higher in product for a little bit more lifespan. The one thing that I don’t like is that people that just bought one last year can’t use the new pencil and can’t use the new keyboard. I think that your product is within a 3 to 5 year range. All new accessories should work.

"OVERKILL." You hit the nail on the head, right there!

Do we really need M4 (or even M2) iPads? Especially with Apple intentionally limiting the iPads to iPad OS, instead of Mac OS?

They would have done much better if they bumped up the device size to 15" or 20", like you said. Thanks for convincing me to save my $800 or so dollars!

They can build a rocket ship with a M500 chip but if IOS can’t handle it, it is pointless. We need to hear better file structures and file handling. Great for YouTube, that’s about all. People inflict pain on themselves by trying to make the iPad the go to computer. Maybe for the TikTokkers. I have tried it many times and could not get most things done without work-arounds.

the annoying thing of buying new ipad air is that I have to buy a new pencil for up to 130$. so the price is basically $930 instead of $800

It's created for people like me. Most people use only 5% of the capabilities of an iPad Pro so they don't need the 100% speed/space/etc. I use at least 75% if not more. I now have a 1TB 2020 iPad Pro with only 100gB free space. I use it for many hours each day (no exception) and it's showing aging issues. I ordered the 2TB iPad Pro (returned the nano textured one right away) and waiting on refunding before ordering the normal screen iPad Pro. I would love to have a larger screen but the 13 inch is just great for working and especially for creating. I use it for portraits and I just love it. The larger the screen the less easy it will be to travel with. But yeah, it's for people like me Ropsy 👍

Some people are complaining about the fact that the new Pencil doesn't work on other devices, but that has to do with the landscape place of the camera for which the magnets had to be reordered. That's why the old pencil doesn't work on the new iPad Pro and why the new Pencil Pro doesn't work on the old iPad's. I'm sure the Pencil will be usable with future iPads. We had the same argument when we had USB-C instead of Lightning. So don't worry about it.

Great video but a new mic would improve it

They get bigger and bigger, more expensive, more niche and specilized.

I’ve been using the new iPad Pro for the past few days and it’s absolutely brilliant. I have no problems at all with iPadOS, the apps I use and the workflows I have adapted. I use it for work and personal needs and I expect it to continue to get the job done and more. The right tool for the right task 🤩
(FYI, I'm usually able to find a work-around for any little quirks or bugs as I do with my other systems (MacOsX, Wintel, Linux and others - no big deal)

I've been using iPads since day dot, and their durability is amazing. My IPad Pro upgrade was to replace a the IPad Pro 2020 model which is still going strong and I will continue to use for specialised tasks.

I'm a happy chappy who still trusts Apple 🤩
