UPDATE!!! Total PAG 46 oil capacity for vehicles with Nippondenso A/C compressor is only 220ml instead of 300ml you see in the manual.

In this video for I stated that the manual was for a Delco/Fridgidare A/C compressors and not for the Nippondeso.  This bothered me as you know. The Delco/Fridgidare compressors oil capacity is 200ml. For the Nippondenso it is 120ml which is 80ml less!

PAG 46 Oil For Nippondenso Compressor: 120ml
PAG 46 Oil For All Other Components: 100ml
PAG 46 Oil System Total: 220ml

In this video, I balance the perfect amount of PAG oil for optimal performance and compatibility with R134a refrigerant. Additionally, I also install a new AC hose to compressor, complete with compatible O-rings suitable for R134a. Learn the ideal quantity of PAG oil and R134a refrigerant that Mercedes recommends for your older Benz.

I am documenting every part of the 560SL restoration build . The idea is to end up with the best documented 560SL rebuilds on the Internet.

I want everyone who visits my channel to know about a friend of mine named Tasos. His videos inspire me to be more like him. He is so much better than I am. You can find his YouTube channel at:

My videos are not sponsored by anyone. The products and tools I use are products and tools I have purchased with my own money. I include links below to any special tools or products used in this video.

The torque wrench I used was the GEARWRENCH 3/8" Flex Head Electronic Torque Wrench with Angle:

For lubricating the O-rings I used Refrigeration Technologies RT201B Nylog Gasket & Thread Sealant:

You will also need a Schrader Valve Removal Tool. This is what I purchased:

The PAG oil I used is TSI Supercool, 46 Viscosity with U/V Dye:

I also needed the R12 to R134A AC Retrofit Fitting Adapter Kit:

That's all the special tools and products I used in this video. In the video I provide the part numbers for the other parts used.

Here is a link to the on-line manual that I am somewhat following:

I will be doing a YouTube live when I start this car for the very first time since 2008. Make sure you get notified when I publish a new video so you don't miss this special one-time event.

I purchased the URO manifold such as you did. I can confirm the bracket is now in the correct spot for mounting....

Okay, I see how 220 total capacity is calculated. Procedures show 300ml which 200 is in compressors with sump. Supplemental shows 120ml for denso. 300-80 (sump) 220 total capacity.

Hi tony

Yesterday i make a new circle for A/c : compressor - Condenser - i wash all the circle before but after install every parts the A/c is good and cold but It turns on and off sometimes when it is cold and when it is hot. Is it because of the sensor? Where is the sensor and how many sensors are there in the air conditioning? Because I will replace them completely. I am tired.

Another problem: The air outlet in the middle does not work. Is it from the air conditioning center inside the cabin

Well, you discovered the problem with selecting O-rings. That’s why I have several large kits several hundred O-rings about $800 worth and I still don’t have them all..

And you discovered the problem with the mismatch of compressors when you’re upgrading to a different manufacturer

The reason they’re such a big discrepancy between the oil requirements of that brand new DENSO compared to the old Frigidaire

The Frigidaire at the bottom, where it looks like it’s pregnant
That’s actually a sump equivalent of a oil pan on a gas engine

That area all by itself contains 6 ounces of oil stored in reserve

The A6 Frigidaire compressor literally has a oil pump in the rear head basically exactly the same as some small Japanese four-cylinder engines with an oil pick up tube that protrude down underneath the level of oil in the sump and it is pressure fed through cross drilled, crank to deliver oil to the pistons and bearings.

This is why the old system with the old compressor required so much oil

That the new DENSO does not require so much .

You did a great job in your video specially, using the aftermarket hose assembly and tweaking it a little bit to get it to work correctly. Good job. .

You put a lot of time and effort to make this video for somebody who does not do this as a daily profession . You definitely put in more work in effort than I could on making a video..

Thank you for posting your journey and restoring the air conditioning on this Mercedes .
