I work in Aviation and I'm here to say, he is a hero. 155 souls and their families would agree.

I'm in aviation. And I was curious about what non aviation reaction would be to this trailer. So thanks for sharing.

But to answer your question, prior to Captain Sully, there had never been a successful water landing with a commercial aircraft, especially of that size. Although pilots train in simulation for it, a water ditching is RARE. And a successful one.... there's only been one.... Captain Sully's.

Any time there is an emergency landing, whether it is on land or water, successful or unsuccessful, there will always be an investigation. But there will also be a second guess on your own skill sets, for both pilots and flight attendants.

What I think the general public doesn't realize is that, ALL crew members have a critical role in an evacuation. Pilots are trying to maintain the composure and handling of the aircraft. Flight Attendants are trying to maintain control and guidance of the passengers.

.... Continued on next comment....

Part 3 continued...

The biggest issue with this water landing, from an NTSB and FAA view point, is that the passengers were evacuated from the emergency window exit. On an Airbus A320 aircraft, the window exits do not have life rafts, and will not provide floatation. But because certain actions did and did not take place (which I think the movie will reveal), they Flight Attendants were forced to evacuate in a non traditional manner for a water ditching. They definitely get kudos for thinking quickly.

Because as flight attendants drill for these emergencies, nothing prepares you for real time situations like these. They found themselves not being able to open main cabin doors where they would traditional cadence, inflate your vest, step into the raft... Instead now, it's exit blocked, go...

Ah... They are continuously aware. Can I get my passengers out this door, that door, that window...?

I'll leave the suspense for Eastwood & Hanks.

Thanks again for sharing

Continued...
Flight Attendants will shout out commands, in synchronized order, to help passengers evacuate in an "controlled" manner. They practice this, drill after drill after drill, in both land and water exercises. What the layman don't realize is that flight attendants must evacuate an aircraft in 90 seconds or less, with half the working doors. They are the first line when in comes to passenger safety. They pilots, if possible, will do the final run through to make sure all souls have been removed. Obviously, during a fire, explosion, or other life threatening situation, they will not be able to and will evacuate from the flight deck windows.

I'm impressed that Eastwood, includes the flight attendant's role and accuracy of the cadence, "brace! Brace! Brace! Heads down! Stay down!"

Con't....

One thing I notice right away from the trailer is that they didn't do their research into crashes caused by dual engine failure. The plane Scully landed on the Hudson experienced dual engine failure at an altitude of around 2800. About a year earlier in London, a Boeing 777 experienced dual engine failure at an altitude of 750 feet while coming to a landing at Heathrow resulting in it crashing into the field before the runway (fortunately nobody was killed in that accident).

Looks awesome. Can't wait and for the most part I love both Eastwood and Hanks. Eastwood has been up and down lately but I did love American Sniper and I still have faith. Not to mention the fact that the trailer really got me.

When i first saw the title, my first thought was they decided to do a backstory of Victor Sullivan from the Uncharted game series.

The plot seems fairly similar to the movie "Flight" with Denzel Washington, though that movie was not based on an actual event. Either way in both movies the pilot saves a lot of lives in a plane crash and is at first a hero then is questioned and investigated after. Wonder how the two will compare.

The cinematography is very basic because Sully is the first film ever to be completely shot on IMAX the next I believe is the infinity war films.
