Fixed! GTA 5 PC Stuttering When Driving & Frame Drops

In this quick tutorial, we show you how to fix stuttering or lagging which usually occurs when driving in GTA 5. This annoying issue is still not fixed (Feb 2022) but this awesome little workaround solves the problem 100% of the time!

Even if you are rocking the RTX 3080 Ti like we are using in this tutorial, you'll still get framedrops and stuttering, so it is highly annoying for gamers who have serious gaming rigs, being unable to enjoy GTA 5 in all its glory.

for anybody still confused, 180-190 fps is the framerate cap so it stutters when it reaches those fps because the engine caps the fps to that so anything above those frames make the game stutter so thats why it stutters

For AMD Radeon GPUs: Use Radeon Chill included in Adrenalin Drivers and set it in GTA V. I set 165fps cap in my radeon rx 6800 xt and the problem was solved :D

Everyone still expierencing issues with the stuttering its because gta doesnt know what sound device your using so disable all of the speakers in sound control panel in sound settings and you should be good to go at any fps

thanks a lot, i was crazy with my PC, RTX 4070Ti + i7 13700k with a lot of stuttering... capped 165hz into NVIDIA panel fixed my problem.

I can't believe that this was the issue. It made absolutely no sense as to why my rig couldn't handle this game that came out during the time Windows 7 was the current OS.

I capped my fps using other softwares and I still get dips to 30fps any fixes yet? 3070 i7 32gb ram

I reinstalled everything, change gpu drivers, pc settings and it was that on a 6800xt and i5 13500 was driving me nuts. Big big thank you mate

For fix FPS drop on offline mode: [1]in file Location of GTA V: press right-click on "GTA5", choosing properties, select "Compatibility" on tabs, active "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and select "Change high DPI settings" and active "Override high ... performed by" on Application. and do it same setting for "GTALauncher". [2]in game setting: go to graphics setting, put Screen Type on "Windowed Borderless" and put MSAA on "x4 or x2 or off (exceptfor x8)" and VSync "off" and put Grass Quality on "Very High or High or Normal (exceptfor Ultra)".
