Quick answer: The hand movement is more like a squid.
Long answer: The reason you're debating between a squid and jellyfish is because they both move using jet propulsion, so their movements are very similar. However, they differ in what parts of their body move to accomplish this. In jellyfish, the bell (the blobby part at the top) contracts and expands, while the tentacles remain largely stationary. In squid, the body is still but the arms and tentacles open as they draw in water and close as the water is expelled, pushing them back. Since only your fingers scrunch closed, rather than making a full fist, this is more like a squid's movement.
