Happy yours worked so easily. I opened mine and all the flimsy pieces fell out. Finally got them back in with difficulty and closed with the screw. The blade container would not open after several tries but finally it did open. I had to "shave' the button to make it work. This is not my first box cutter.

I took it apart in order to put new blade in. Now can't get it to go together again.

That Stanley 99 is the only knife I remember seeing in my dads garage. It was worn out and beat up but always worked.

Many said the quick change tends to fail and blades don't lock up anymore... That's why I like the 199 more, no slide, no buttons, no springs, no flimsy tin parts that could fail. Yes, you have to use a screwdriver to change the blade, but the one your grandpa used, still works

I have a 1940s Stanley 1299. Non retractable. I can’t imagine having to carry that around safely. Belonged to my Grandpa.

There's literally instructions to "tear here" to remove the label.

I love the concept, so much so that I have gone through at least 10 of these. Unfortunately, the blades always end up falling out, especially when cutting drywall. I'm still searching for a better retractable alternative.

To get packaging out, press yellow tab and pull plastic tab straight out

Once you open it it’s ridiculously difficult to put it together. No my dad did not have it on his belt. And I had to be careful not get cut by the spilling blades.
You did not address any of it.

You don't need to open the knife up to insert/change blades. That's what the yellow button in the front is for.

This utility knife model can be used has a seatbelt cutter because tht integrated string cutter recesses in the blade like tht of a seatbelt cutter’s blade!

Just got this knife After tearing the cardboard where directions show the rest of the package card slides right out so taking it apart is not something that is needed 4-22-24

I've had two of those. The quick release feature failed on both of them. I've also had several Uline knives with the same quick release feature and every one failed at the quick release feature. The blade storage on the Stanley kept getting in a bind on one of the knives so that it was difficult to open.

Use a utility knife to cut that packaging tag off! If your pulling hard enough to have a blade tear out your due for a fresh point. 10-499’s have been bulletproof for me. Don’t get me started on folding knives.

All those plastic parts are not lasting a lifetime. I'm sticking with the classic! I don't mind longer blade change time for a more secure knife.
