German car-makers are pressing Lithuania to seek a compromise with China. Reports say Lithuania could ask Taiwan to rename their office in Vilnius to placate Beijing. Why are Europe's big powers abandoning spirited Lithuania? Palki Sharma tells you.

It’s a pretty remarkable situation. China is threatening corporations and these corporations are cowering. EU is China’s biggest trading partner. EU imports $350B worth of stuff and exports $188B to China. If the EU sided with Lithuania and threatened curbs on Chinese imports, both sides would have worked out an amicable solution. Instead, it simply folded up.
