Shock Leader Knot for Surfcasting

I was shown this shock leader knot by a Welshman who was visiting New Zealand. It has been reliable in my experience and that of other surfcasters.

amazing knot, compact and strong, used it on my braid also with great result, just repeated the first loop a 3 times to spread the load on the nylon and its perfect, cheers Mike

Great knot! Been using it with 11 lb to 30 lb shock leader and it's worked flawlessly dozens of trips so far. It was so simple that I was skeptical at first. I do use a drop of glue on the knot. Haven't tried without.

FANTASTIC!
I've been working on learning new knots this last week in preparation for our annual beach adventures and for a new setup and THIS is the one I've been looking for. I just tied it with two extra wraps on braid and it looks great the first time. How many times do you twist a Bimini before you get it right? Going to test it to make sure I'm getting enough wraps but what a fantastic "unknown" knot. "Welsh Knot" is what I'll call it. I'm 58 and been fishing all my life, never seen this one anywhere. I would tend to lubricate with saliva before tightening up. Friction on the mono will weaken the line

Can this be tied with braid? Nice knot I am going to give it a try for my shock leaders in mono, looks neater than the traditional alright.
