Thanks, Eric---so much good information. I recently started selling my watercolors and the response has been quite good. I'm in a new shop (Bucksport Trading Post) in Maine---she sells the work of Maine artists and curated wines. Saturday was her first Corks and Canvas event with artists doing demos, a jazz guitarist and a wine tasting. I sold a small painting and it was a lovely summer day by the water in Maine---not hard to take. More events coming all the way through October---it's been a great way to connect with potential customers.

Where I live, Minnesota, I find most artists tight lipped about how they make their money especially if they're doing well.

Is it possible for an artist to "do well ($), " building a career OUTSIDE of the gallery route?
