What duuuude? You got me through the most challenging times. I was with you when you lost your portfolio. I was with you when you visited the events where you found your calling. At the same time, I went from 2D animation to 3D and now finishing my PhD. I teach animation now and always talk about you in my classes. Apart from monetising there are other ways to make moneys on youtube — creating exclusive content for subscriptions, partnering with relevant sponsors, selling your products etc.
I personally find most ads to be outdated and annoying and would prefer to remove them altogether
