How Powerful is the Swedish RBS-17 Anti-Ship Missile

The Robot 17 system is a missile developed in Sweden based on the AGM-114 Hellfire missile from the United States. It was first produced in the 1980s by a company called Bofors Defense (now called Saab Bofors Dynamics). While the Hellfire missile was intended to target armored vehicles from a distance using an attack helicopter like the AH-64 Apache, the Robot 17 can also be launched from shore or naval vessels. It uses laser guidance and has a range of around five miles, However, in normal operating conditions, this is probably a bit less. It can be used both on land and at sea, targeting ships and coastal defenses. The system is similar to the Ukrainian Neptune missile system which was used to hit the Moskva ship

This country has always been about getting along, and being about peace, but if you have to have fight, many of us will fight.

Taiwan needs a few hundred of those things they could rip apart a beach landing

Absolutely galling that a non-democratic leader in NATO can hold up entry of Sweden and Finland. If Sweden is on your side, you're definitely the good guys. Let them in!!!!

Its not meant to be carried by a person but rather by a combat group where you distribute the weight

The missile is nothing like The Neptune.
Neptune is an anti ship cruise missile 20 times the size and 20 times the range

Old news about the RBS-17. You should do a video about the CV90 and Archer being delivered to Ukraine.

Denmark has already donated the land based Harpoon system which are launched from trucks

Any publicly stated performance stats on US based weapon systems and military equipment is always much less than the actual real world performance capability. We lowball all the numbers, publicly. So take any info provided with a grain of salt.

So it's a whizzing-match to see who has the biggest hammer?

This is definitely not the first time Sweden has exported weapons to countries involved in a war. Its prohibited by law but politicians routinely have granted exceptions to the point where the law is almost a joke. For example we sold AT4's to the US during its conflicts in the middle east and the sale of artillery to India continued during its conflicts with Pakistan. Nobody except the left and the greens gave any fucks. I mean we like to look like the neutral good guy but we like money just as much as anybody else.

The difference now is that nobody's even pretending to be neutral.

Sweden has a strong connection with the American MIC via Ratheon in the main.

I’m a bit confused
When where they delivered?

Bra, RBS-17/Hellfire are *ABSOLUTELY NOTHING* like Neptune ASM lol. One is a cruise miissile with range of 200km+ with a 300lb warhead...
Meanwhile Hell fire is essentially an ATGM with a range of 5 miles or so & a warhead of 18lbs...

So it works similarly and has almost the same characteristics as the Hellfire missile and costs almost 1/5th of the price of a Hellfire. Seems like a no-brainer in arms procurement 😜
