Livyatan, the Sea Monster Eating Megalodon

Livyatan is one of the largest, most ferocious predators ever. But a much smaller predator caused its extinction!
Livyatan had a 10-foot-long skull and terrifying jaw with the largest teeth of any known animal! The whale could interlock its teeth to keep prey from escaping and bite large chunks of it with its one-foot-long teeth. Livyatan would have needed to eat hundreds of pounds of food by hunting smaller whales, seals, and dolphins. They started dying off nearly five million years ago when water cooling reduced the population of their prey. Also, some researchers have an alternative theory that explains how orcas and great white sharks caused the extinction of the giant beast. Watch our #Shorts video to learn more.
