My Lincolnwood Story - Oral History Project
What is My Lincolnwood Story?
My Lincolnwood Story is an oral history project which aims to explore the past and present of Lincolnwood by documenting stories of its residents. The main goal of this project is to record, preserve, and share audio interviews with the Lincolnwood community in order to connect residents with the history of their neighbors. This project will present Lincolnwood residents with an opportunity to share their story, and for all patrons – a chance to learn about the diverse community of Lincolnwood.

About the project

Community engagement was one of the initiatives identified as a result of our 2019-2021 strategic planning process. One of our goals for this initiative is to provide residents with meaningful opportunities to engage with the surrounding Lincolnwood community. My Lincolnwood Story aims to do just that. Whether patrons contribute their stories to the project, listen to the recorded interviews, or attend the final exhibit, this project will connect people to their community, and most importantly to one another. We will begin recording interviews for the project in the spring of 2019, and plan on opening the exhibit a year later, in 2020.

How will it work?

Everyone has a story to tell! If you’re interested in sharing your story or know somebody you’d like to interview for this project, we would love to hear from you.

Find a friend or a family member to interview or be interviewed by. We highly recommend this arrangement as it will allow for a more dynamic and personal conversation. The interview will be facilitated by a library staff member.

Another option is to be interviewed directly by a library staff member.
