principle axis of rotation:
it has only one Cn axis of rotation which is C2 passing through the Pt and bisecting the opposite edges.
plane of symmetry:
it has only two plane of symmetry (I) molecular plane =vertical plane(σv)=σxy (II) Vertical plane(σv’)=σyz containing pt. and bisecting the line joining two chlorine atom and ammonia molecule.
inversion centre:This molecule do not have inversion centre
Proper axis of rotation: (Sn): As this molecule has Cn but don’t have horizontal plane(σh) and we know that Sn=Cn.σh. so this molecule don’t have Sn
Total number of symmetry element:C2,(σv),(σv’)
Distinct symmetry elements: E,C2,(σv),(σv’)
Order of symmetry(h)=4
Point Group:-C2v
