Thrace is a historical-geographical area in Southeastern Europe, which nowadays covers Southern Bulgaria, Northeastern Greece and the European part of Turkey. The Bulgarian part of Thrace is known as Northern Thrace, the current Turkish as Odrin or Eastern Thrace, and the current Greek as White Sea or Western Thrace. The inhabitants of the area in ancient times were the Thracians, from whom it takes its name, and its present-day inhabitants - Bulgarians, Turks and Greeks, are sometimes called Thracians, after the name of the geographical area in which they live.
