Monster Energy - Switching Industries

Monster is the #1 energy drink in the United States, recently passing Red Bull which is no easy task. But they didn't start by selling energy drinks. In fact, this company existed for years by selling different products, with a much different image than they have today. This video talks all about it.

I rarely drink energy drinks because of the energy. I drink them for the unique flavour you can't find in sodas. And Monster is up there.

Monster is my favorite energy drink because all their spin off lines, Zero Sugar, Juice, Rehab, etc actually taste like a normal drink.

I should own half of Monster's company after I've drank so many over the years

I would drink Monster even without the energizing part. They're just damn good.

In 2004 I took a business class at Columbus State Community College. Our teacher assigned us a company to follow on the stock market. I got HANS. I called the company and told them I was doing a project about their company in school. They sent over $10 in coupons and all kinds of information. They were super nice on the phone too. Well, I watched the stock climb and climb. I tried to convince anyone I knew to buy their stock. Nobody did and I never had any money to. I wish I could go back in time and buy some now.

I really enjoy your channel Company Man. Thank you!

The design of the Monster can back in 2002 is reminiscent of the early 2000s Scene/Emo scene... Oh nostalgia.

Monster is genius at marketing. They’ve positioned themselves as THE drink rappers in Japan drink, because of that they’re absolutely killing it in the Japanese market now.

The Monster Energy logo fit so well in the early 2000's nu metal music scene!

Who would've thought that a company who sold Natrual Sodas and juices would become Monster Energy.

"Red Bull came to the US in their signature 8.4 ounce can, and Hansen was in a very similar 8.2 ounce can (later an 8.3 ounce can). Really, how much closer can you get?"
0.1 ounces, of course.

Plus the early 2000’s is when “extreme” sports got popular again and Monster invested into sponsoring these sports. I think that would be their biggest reason they go popular so fast when Monster released.

I gotta say, Monster tastes better, has a bigger can and it's cheape (for way more content) than Red Bull. It's easy to choose. Where I live, a monster can (500ml) is around €1.50, Red Bull costs €1.95 for 355ml

I think red bull makes most of its sales in nightclubs as a mixer with alcohol, while monster because of its size and the different flavours, it more of a “buy it and drink it” type of drink. Plus monster is cheaper, you get a lot more bang for your buck and tastes better, in my opinion.
