Easy Cheats Prong Setting Wirework Tutorial by Jem Hawkes

Today I'm sharing my easy cheat's prong setting wirework tutorial with you, I developed this technique about 5 years ago after shattering a gemstone I was attempting to prong set - I was still relatively new to wirework at the time and it broke my heart, as well as the purple labradorite with which I was working!

You'll need a cabochon, 1mm gauge and 0.4mm gauge wires, plus a couple of pairs of flat facing pliers. Even box-joint flat pliers are super helpful and often found really cheaply.

Thanks for that Gem, I’ve been wire working for quite a number of years and hated prong setting as the last time I chipped a round Latimer Cab that I’ll have to bezel set to cover up the chip, love your tutorials always easy to follow and you explain everything very clearly.xxxx
