Dozens injured as ferris wheel catches fire at music festival in Germany

Around 30 people have been injured after a ferris wheel at a music festival in Germany caught fire.

Flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the ride at Highfield Festival at Stormthaler Lake, near Leipzig, on Saturday evening.

Two gondolas on the ferris wheel were ablaze at around 9pm, according to the festival.

Someone either tried to light off fireworks when they reached the top, or lost control of their bong. Clearly a case of passenger error. Arson maybe?

I was on the wheel, luckily I escaped without any burns. Three people suffered third degree burns and one of them passed away a few hours ago. Rest in peace.

That has to be caused by one of the passengers - can't surely be anything in the gondola that could possibly cause a fire?
