COVID-19 inoculations are underway. The first to get Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine was a 90-year-old British woman, among the group considered high risk of contracting the disease. Gov. Phil Murphy said the next couple of days will be “quite telling.”
The state's reporting 5,820 new infections Tuesday -- the second highest total of the outbreak, with Sunday's 6,046 being the highest. The new cases put the 9-month total at 377,055 cases. The state health department reports 90 new confirmed deaths for 17,426 total COVID-19 fatalities. The state's hospitals report 3,481 hospitalizations, the highest number since mid May.
