DC is such a wealth of knowledge. No one else has such a broad understanding of this industry.

Be honest, how close were you to telling an entire conference to whack the like-button at 44:12?

Loved the presentation!
Fully agreed on the fact that offering metrics without actionable response is not good enough. I have no idea what to take away from the garmin running dynamics like vertical oscilation, ground contact time, ... what is better, how do I improve those stats, ... who knows?

The bells went off in my head when you mentioned "Subscription Fatigue". I just cancelled my annual subscription to Ride With GPS. I had a Zwift and Tacx subscriptions years ago that I cancelled. Add to that subscriptions for watching racing or TV. I am sick of subscriptions. Fortunately I have the Tacx Program TTS4 and Velo Reality Videos so I don't have to pay monthly to ride the trainer. I know these companies want to make money but they need to develop programs like Tacx did years ago so you can get just as much enjoyment out of training without having to subscribe to a service. Because when the ISP crashes or financial circumstances change the only thing left to do is twiddle your thumbs and stare at the devices you can't use.

Thank you Ray for sharing your continued insight into the sports, fitness and now borderline health technology world. Always entertaining and informative.

I had no idea you send back everything you review. It makes me value your reviews more. I wish more reviewers did this.

Did not think I would have liked the talk, and when you wrapped it up I couldn't believe it was over. Bravo!

Fantastic recap on the year. The nerd in me loves this stuff. Thank you very much. I have been pretty excited about the integration of the life data with the fitness data occurring this year. So far relatively impressed with the workout suggestions and recovery on my Forerunner 745. Next I also hope that companies work on making sleep data more accurate and more actionable.

Always enjoy this kind of content. This could be fun if you could present this live with Q&A session afterwards. Thanks ray

Thanks, I found that interesting despite not being in the "industry". I was interested in your comments about having things look "pretty". I've experimented with various Garmin watch faces and have generally found those that try to be "pretty" actually just become cluttered and more difficult to see when wearing my distance vision specs (eg when I'm running). High contrast, clear, large numbers are the key features I need. Colour and pictures are optional and shouldn't be necessary to use the device.

Tying it all together. Another place to flog my favourite horse: Watches that don't accept and incorporate workout data from other platforms. They got their own workout data included at least, so maybe next step will be workouts from other plans. Why should I have to wear my watch when I go for a bike ride with my Wahoo head unit? Or on Zwift. The data still gets uploaded to Garmin (via Strava, in my case) - so use it! Same for Polar as well, and as far as I can tell, everyone else.

Posted this on a recent video as well, but maybe I'll keep doing it whenever topical in the hope that the right person sees it and goes "Oh yeah, that's dumb" and I can go buy their next several watches.

I just purchased a Garmin Vivoactive 3 after having an Apple Watch 2 on my wrist for almost 4 years. The biggest adjustment I’ve had to make with the Garmin is the barely readable screen vs the bright Apple Watch screen. The Garmin is a much better fitness tracker but this was quite an adjustment. But I am enjoying keeping the Garmin on my wrist for days without charging.

Great video Ray! Btw the Roots Canada hoodie the girl was rockin in the quarantine corner is the coolest piece of kit - you should have ordered one for yourself 😂

Here's to 2021. Less subscriptions, better graphics, portable data and more honest reviews. 👏

Great update, Ray. For indoor cycling, I have a Zwift subscription, and use it a few times a week. I had a FulGaz subscription for a year, and while I loved the high-def video and the ability to see parts of the world I'm interested in, I found myself going back to Zwift more often, and I think that's because of the interaction with other users. I'm definitely more motivated when someone is chasing me and I'm trying to stay out ahead :) If you could combine Zwift gameplay with FulGaz scenery, you'd have an awesome platform. We might have to wait for Quantum computing to get that.
