Wow. Thinking back to my first drum cover, if you would have told me that one day I'll find myself on a mountain in British Columbia shooting a Tool cover, while working on my first album, while about to launch my instructional dvd/book/cd I would never in a million billion years have believed you. Funny how life works. This shoot was so much fun, the people at Drumeo are the nicest people I've ever met, and such pros (yes, you - Jared, Victor, James & Kyle). It was supposed to be raining that day, and this would have had to be shot in the studio, but by some marvelous twist of fate the weather forecast changed the day before, and we were able to shoot outside. Hooray!!

I have to say playing on gravel is much harder then it looks - it was literally impossible to find a good place for the pedals. Had to use muscles I didn't know existed to pull this off...I got the worst sunburn on my back too, so now my back is super tanned while my front is still pale as ever. haha. But on the bright side, did you see this video??? How will I ever be able to shoot another? Next one will have to be shot from a helicopter while I'm skydiving with my set and playing Meshuggah.

Imagine busting a hike through the great outdoors and all of a sudden you hear the drum track from 46 and 2 echoing through the valley.

I've watched this video multiple times, and every time what stands out is how at ease she seems and how effortless her playing is.

This young lady is not only talented but stunningly BEAUTIFUL! What a smile at the end. Very nicely done. I wish she was playing with TOOL back when I saw them. This lady would have put a nice touch on the concert. Well never mind, she was probably learning to walk when my old ass saw Tóol

that must have been weird for someone within ear shot. ..out for a nature walk and hearing the drum line for 46&2..and wondering..wtf is that coming from..

I've honestly probably watched this cover around 40 times in the last 9 years or so - It's insanely good. If you're a drummer, then you know - Danny Carey's time signatures are insanity, very very hard to play. He does the weirdest things with his drumming, and it's definitely a level 10 difficulty. She nails this - No missed timing, no misses on any cymbals, toms, base, crashes, etc. Not all drum covers of Tool songs can say that. They usually improvise or miss something along the way, but Meytal doesn't miss anything lol. Awesome stuff, 10/10

The time signature illusion is amazing. They really made their own genre.
Awesome cover.

From a fellow professional drummer -- You are incredible.  I don't think many people understand quite the difficulty in mastering these compositions.  It's much easier to put your own twist (for me anyways) when playing any song (cover) -- But to match it lick for lick, .. pitch/timber.. attack angle, , etc to the "T" if you will is incredibly difficult.

I did find myself thinking you looked awkward or uncomfortable in your playing style when I first watched you .. but after going through your videos in entirity -- I see this is just you! --

Also, .. your speed and not overplaying (wasting energy) is fantastic!  Keep the songs coming, along with solo's, and any original stuff.  Although I know covers are what pay the bills and what the "majority" of viewers would like to see.

Hey, Meytal - my band is working on a cover of "46 and 2, " and our drummer's using your video as reference because you show your work so clearly and from so many angles. Thanks for being awesome, and for making such damned USEFUL videos, too!

This girl is good, real good. Makes it look way easier than it actually is. Goes to show you how talented Danny Carey is to have developed this beat/technique to this song from nothing.
