Friday Reads December 9, 2022 - Bono, Brubaker & Keegan

Padding my reading stats at the end of the year with some short books. No idea why I had never heard of Claire Keegan before she landed on the Booker longlist this year. Foster is a near perfect work of exquisite literature. I cry at everything, but I think you'd need a hard heart not to be affected by this superbly crafted work of art. Stop what you're doing right now and go read Foster. Then come back here and thank me as I want to thank all the people who recommended it to me.

There is something about Irish writers. I can't recall ever reading an Irish writer who *didn't* make me cry. At present, reading Seamus Deane's "Reading in the Dark". Will definitely be reading the Claire Keegan novella. Ta!

Look online for The Quiet Girl film. It’s adapted from Foster by Claire Keegan. It’s in Irish but has English subtitles.
