G Body Budget AFX Spindle Upgrade Part 3
Показать описание
This one gets technical as I do my best to explain (and show) whats going on with the geometry.
Building the best bang for the buck upgrade kit for the G body front suspension for track use. This kit fixes a lot of the weak points in the G body front suspension: Geometry, strength of components, and the brakes.
This may not be the "perfect" or "best" for everyone's needs but it checks all the boxes for me. Plus its modular in nature with readily avialable parts, lots of options, and low cost of maintenace. There's no reason this setup couldn't be used on an A/F/X body or any other car for that matter thanks to the various ball joint options, custom control arms, and custom steering arms.
Components used in this video:
Speedway Motors AFX spindle 91035000
Speedway Motors Spindle nut kit 910616005
Outer wheel bearing Timken Set 2
Inner wheel bearing Timken Set 6
Wheel seal National 8871
Stock/Replacement G body hub - modified / Cody Smith Motorsports
Seal spacer - custom / Cody Smith Motorsports
Howe 22410SV (requires reaming of spindle and control arm mount modification)
Howe 22301 (requires reaming of spindle and control arm mount modification)
Used Wilwood Superlite style calipers for 1.25 wide rotor (piston sizing varies so pay attention to what you get. I recomend 1.62 or the larger 1.75 and 1.88 size pisitons)
Custom Brake Brackets - Cody Smith Motorsports
Any base model Corvette C5/C6 12.8" diameter x 1.25" wide front brake rotor (Disc Brakes Austraila 4000 series in the video)
Worth noting. Hybrid ball joints can be used if desired to not require reaming of the spindle. Correct ones will vary based on your control arms so do your reseach.
A bolt on solution (which I have been running for the past 4 years)
Speedway Motors 3pc Metric Spindle kit 91605016
You won't use the brake brackets and this spindle fits you standard G body ball joints. Will require facing bolt area for CSM brake bracket.
