I went to see Cavalleria Rusticana in Pittsburgh last night. I am Catholic and my father played this opera all the time when I was a little boy. Now that he has been gone for 24 years, I cried in my silence listening to the whole opera, in particular this piece.

El director de escena no tiene la minima idea de lo que está interpretando. Para nosotros, católicos y para Mascagni, la Virgen María es ante todo Madre de Misericordia, y jamás señalaria y avergonzaria a un pecador, en este caso Santuzza. Si no tienen el minimo conocimiento ni respeto por la fe, no hagan la puesta en escena de Cavalleria Rusticana. Mezclan la Biblia con el calefón. No son creativos, son burros que andan por los escenarios faltando el respeto al creador de tan excelsas obras musicales.
