It happened to me on 1.4.3. I was doing the pillars for “fun” and my zenith somehow did around a quarter of the health bar of one of them before the shield went up. It might have been because the pillar just spawned in and there were a couple of frames where the shield wasn’t up. I have no idea how this happened though

I made a video on a weird glitch I found with the pillars in 1.4.3 or an earlier version of 1.4. My friend and I were fighting the old ones army and all of the sudden one of the pillars died. I somewhat figured out what happened. I was shooting where the pillar was and it ended up damaging the pillar even with the shield. I believe it only happens on multiplayer worlds when you do not get near the pillars where they don’t move on the map.

I feel like this is the _one_ time where the stardust pillar is unironically the hardest celestial pillar.

Could be a really simple explanation: the red health bar is behind the blue shield bar and in none of your recorded examples did you take down a portion of the shield bar so you could see if the health bar was taking damage. There is nothing about any of this that says the shield bar should be reduced if the health bar behind it is reduced.

Could it be that the pillar healthbar is going down when a falling star hits it, it's just the health bar is behind the blue shield bar?

My speculation is that the star hits at around the time that the small orbs that do damage to the shield and cause some sort of bug resulting in unintended damage. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense though because player weapons don't deal damage when the orbs touch the pilar's shield, so maybe they are labelled as some sort of "natural" damage. This is just the only idea I can come up with for such a bug.

For some reason I thought this would be some kind of mod that turns Terraria into Cookie Clicker. Not disappointed though, good video as always!

Could it be that the pillars gain there shield once the player is in range of the pillar. But the pillar may actually be there when the player is out of range as well, and during that time the star could potentially fall on the pillar. I have no idea if this is the case, but seems possible.

That health bat in the reddit post is the mobile health bar, that might mean something

happens all the time like I would be in my ranger world getting fragments to fight moon lord and I would randomly shoot with chlorophyte bullets while the pillar was spawning and boom health lowered while shield is up (1.3.4)

For the people saying "what if the enemy bar is covering the pillar bar?" I ask wouldn't we still see the damage ticks over the pillar when the star "hits" it?
