The AWD systems are different in the CVT and the manual transmission. The manual transmission uses a fully-mechanical AWD system (of course with help from VDC when it kicks in), with a viscous coupling centre differential and 50:50 front-to-rear torque split. The CVT Lineartronic uses a multi-plate clutch transfer plate that is electronically controlled as the center differential with a 60:40 front-to-rear torque split.

Interesting....and yes I am a long time Subaru fan. I guess if you are a Subaphile and want performance you'll look at the Turbo Subi's....otherwise just enjoy the long term build quality and reliability and that 'indefinable' feel of uniqueness that Subaru has always had. I now own my 7th Subaru since 1987 - I had my '92 Liberty (Legacy) wagon till 2012 (should never have sold it) and my latest is an XV which does everything I expect from it! My first Subi wagon (L Series) had 73 Kw and did the job - 110 Kw is plenty.

Why use Kilo Watts ???... Audience is world wide and most are not familiar with KW for rating engine power. Here in the US we don't go gaga over physics !. BTW, I am an engineer. We are talking about simple mechanical beast here, not an electrical device. 148 HP is the specs.
