Maruti Suzuki has launched its hybrid technology car Ciaz. The SHVS Ciaz by Maruti is the first car in its segment to offer a mild hybrid system. Ciaz comes with features like ideal engine start/ stop button, power assist, brake energy regeneration. Ciaz employs an integrated starter generator. This system supplements power making it more efficient than conventional system. The system allows to shutdown the engine when the car comes to complete stop in day to day traffic condition. The engine is switched on as soon as the driver depresses the clutch. The system is also deactivated when the driver un passes the seat belt or if the driver side door is open. The regenerating braking stores the energy into the high capacity battery during deceleration. For optimum use of this feature the car will be decelerating while in the gear without clutch pedal being depressed or the gear lever in the neutral position. Ciaz also comes with energy power assist, this system will assist the extra power from the ISG motor when the car is in running gear. Gear shift indicator helps in improving the mileage by promoting the efficient driving style. With a fuel efficiency figure of 28.09 kmpl, the Ciaz diesel Hybrid is now the most fuel efficient car in the country. The SHVS system is spare to 1.3-litre turbocharged with 4-cylinder DDis engine. The motor is mated with five speed manual gearbox. The maximum power output is 90 PS and the peak torque of 200 Nm. There is no change in the new model with outgoing model. Inside the cabin, nothing is changed apart from the instrument cluster on the diesel SHVS variants will get a ideal start/stop display along with gear shift indicator. There is also a start/stop button to enable and disable manually. SHVS Ciaz will be available in five variants. The base trim is priced at Rs 8.23 lac (ex-showroom Delhi). It is the first vehicle to be offered under the Government of India fame, adoption and manufacturing of hybrid and electric vehicle program which offers incentives to companies who manufacture hybrid and electric vehicles. Also the incentives of Rs 13,000 will be offered on the Ciaz SHVS and the excise duty on the car is reduced to 12 percent. The new model of Ciaz is Rs 20,000 cheaper than the outgoing model of Ciaz.
