NCB is applicable on only own damage part of insurance. For 20000 insurance you are not saving 4000 but far less than that.

What he is saying is true. My car now has NCB of Rs. 25k (50% of 50k premium of Own Damage). If for 10-15k I claim now, Ill lose 25k bonus and also 50% will be lost. So it makes sense not to claim for small amounts.

Flawed logics and thoughts. In real world, you get NCB only on own damage premium which comes to less than 1500 rupees. So better take claim if damage costs more than 7-8K. I got 35% NCB of INR and 1000 on a total premium of 14K and not 35% of total premium.
