That is great idea, I tried some thing like this on a small air cooled engine but could not get it to run right, Your engine might run better if the inlet valve was opened atmospherically and not by the camshaft. Just a suggestion not trying to find fault .

Very interesting. If you could get a heavier flywheel and run it slower would sound great. Sounds a bit like a petter two stroke at times.

I’m wondering what the rpm range is? My throttle governed R&T does about 850 rpm.
Does it use less fuel this way?
I would have guessed you would hold the intake valve open not the exhaust but that would just be a guess.
