Let’s check out how a CVT transmission vehicle drives at low speeds & higher speeds. It does feel a bit different than your traditional transmission. Let me know what you about the CVT and would you want one on your vehicle?!

Ever wondered what a CVT feels like? Here’s how it behaves.

CVT: *Acts like a regular automatic*

The problem with Nissan’s CVT isn’t HOW it drives, the problem is IF it drives.

Nissan CVT’s are known for giving problems, but with maintenance, they can last a long time. I own a 2007 Altima 2.5S with the CVT with 224000 kms still going strong. Always kept up with maintenance as any car owner should do

Except here's the kicker... What you just showed isn't how a CVT was designed to behave! Original CVTs, many years ago, did not simulate gear shifts. OG CVTs would hold RPMs at the higher range and just stay there. Then, the modern customer complained about how awkward and unnatural it felt. Now CVTs simulate gear shifts, completely defeating the point of a CVT! 🙃

You can't talk about how smooth and shiftless a CVT is when the CVT here is programmed to sound and feel exactly like a conventional automatic with fake shift points.

*Ironically uses one of the worst CVTs in recent history*

“It. just. keeps. going.”
Until it overheats and stops you from going over 3k rpm

CVT has a different way to drive, it's related to the way you press into the gas pedal. As it shifts up, you should initially press slowly and then you press normally. It has something to do with torque response time in regards to rpm.

I had a 2004 Murano, a 2009 Altima coupe, and a 2011 Murano and never had a problem with any of them. I always said the CVT feels like driving a boat. You throttle up, the engine revs up to a static RPM, and the vehicle accelerates.

A cvt has the exact same sensation of speed progression as watching the time at school all day and feeling like the end will never come

The reasons cvt fake shifts is because people would constantly complain of the car sounding loud and sound like it will break

Earlier iterations of CVTs had the uniform revving and lack of perceptible "gear changes" that made them feel like a 1-speed with infinite ratios.

Modern CVTs however definitely mimic the shift patterns of traditional automatics, simply to accommodate the feedback car brands received over the years from drivers.

CVT fake shifts? ohhh hell no.

if you ever got to ride a CVT Scooter that's what it should feel like.

a CVT works by setting engine to run at a "constant" rpm usually it sets the rpm on the rpm of which it makes the max power when you floor it or max torque if you're on the throttle but not flooring it.

then the transmission variates the ratio to give it's optimal performance / economy/ etc.

this happens while you're accelerating, going up hill, cruising, or slowing down.

Fake Shifts defeats the purpose of a CVT.
maybe it does that to make it feel like a Regular A/T, because it may sound like it's broken for untrained ears.

Do one with a 100k and watch it sputter and clunk

I have a Nissan Rogue the CVT transmission never gave me any problems. Maybe because I change the transmission fluid like I'm supposed to. I have 250000 Miles on my Rogue and I'll give a review of how things are going once I hit 300k miles. Maybe then I might understand people's complaints 😂

If You Want the best CVT, Go for Honda or Toyota

Truth. A friend of mine works for a pharmaceutical delivery company and they used to have a fleet of Rogues and Versas (6 of each). The company does all scheduled maintenance on time whether they need to or not and lo and behold all of them made it to 280, 000 miles before getting replaced with new cars. The rule is once a car hits 280k miles or needs a repair costing over $5k it gets replaced.
