I highly recommend not using aluminium sulphate. Aluminium is toxic to plants and stunts the root tips. In soils above pH4 it is mostly locked up but some plants have a clever mechanism of lowering the pH around their root zone (rhizosphere) they can secrete citric acid to help with unlocking nutrients like iron and phosphorus. These plant secreted chemicals are called exudates. Elemental sulphur is a better choice or you can use products that say chelated/kelated or sequestered iron like some liquid seaweed ferts.

I'm conducting an experiment for school. I'm wondering if these compounds are relatively water soluble. I was also wondering if you could give advice about how to alter the pH of water, what kind of water (distilled?) is closest to a pH of 7, or any other ways you know of to alter pH of water or soil in a scientific setting.

That's fine if you have a couple weeks to wait for your pH to drop. Most people find themselves in this predicament to where they need to dropped ASAP. So how do you drop it ASAP?

Awesome video, I'm at 5.0 with the soil being wet. Can I just spray the soil around the new plants with baking soda diluted with water? Any help would greatly be appreciated

Do you adjust PH after you add your nutrients to the water

How many ph points can you lower your ph by just using the instructions on the soil acidifier bag?
I bet no one has this answer.
Not even Espoma has ever answered this question.
Moreover, 5.5 to 6 is considered acidic but that's not good enough for some plants, like blueberries, that need a ph of 4 to 5...
Explicit breakdowns of how much espoma you need to move 1 ph point would be a more useful tool.

Also the 6.5 water he added gives you false reading as it is also reading pH of water hello and if soil is 7 and you add 6.5 water you'll end up with pH About 6.8 or slightly more alkaline then the 6.5 you added or slightly more acidic depending on direction of movement of ph. Like I said it's Earth science.
