Great Idea! But if you don't have the open corrugated liner as shown you can try a piece of white foam board with the paper surfaces from BOTH sides peeled off
and you will get an impression. I have sit bone pain and am making my own custom seat pad. Best wishes to all.

Thanks for your video sharing an effective method. I have replicated and re-check my own width measures. My saddle combined wiht my "spandex" wear and with the saddle position, is comfortable now. Cardboard works fine to obtain the right results.

When I measure the distance between my sit bones, should I add 3 cms when choosing a saddle (that is what I found on some websites)?

finding the correct saddle width is one thing - it doesn't mean that one could easily find the "perfect saddle" right after.

good vid, but didn't really work for me, doesn't leave enough impression on the cardboard

So you now know the distance between sit bones - what a useless piece of information. That’s not how you sit on a saddle, as the pelvis rotates forward the point of contact changes. Measuring sit bones is a sales method to sell saddles. Specialized has a digital ass-o-meter, so they can BS customers with digital accuracy.

You rock back and forth, pee yourself and then magically you have accurate measurements? Impressive indeed.
