Southern rock music pioneer Gregg Allman dies

Gregg Allman, considered an American rock music pioneer by many, has died aged 69. Allman and his brother Duane founded the Allman Brothers band and inspired the southern rock scene.

Allman's chaotic personal life was almost as famous as his music.

Al Jazeera's Diane Eastabrook reports.

Wow. I am surprised Al-Jazeera is covering this. Very nice. I am very saddened he past away =( I love his Southern Rock. Greg never sold out, even in 2005 his songs like "Firing Line" sounded like they were straight out of the 70s.

On the heels of Chris Cornell, Damn.I don't care about their politics or habits, they made great music and that's simply why I liked them. RIP.

Did anyone JUST hear, 'Hepatitis C' in that whole thing? I'm sure that's how he wanted to be remembered.
