I remember that observation haki works if you are conciously using it, it's not like some automatic super power that activate itself, maybe if there is an attaco made that you could sense that there is an enemy near.

At some point, I won't get surprised if Sabo becomes a D as well, like his sworn brothers Luffy and Ace. Given the incidents involving Kuma, King Cobra and Ace, it will only be a matter of time before they brand him as one. Observation haki is supposed to be used first in order to sense the danger around you and it is not always on and even if they are subconsciously being able to use it, it’s only because of the KILLING INTENT and not because it’s always on by default. It doesn’t activate unless there’s malicious intent. Sabo wasn’t emitting any killing intent against the gorosei and Imu. Same with Wapol. They’re not wary of any danger in Mary Geoise .

I think observation haki is only meant to detect attacks.

- imu and gorosei are too focus on cobra
- imu and gorosei just letting their guard down, for 800 years it’s the first time that someone infiltrate the throne room
- maybe sabo knows how to suppress his haki or presence cause ( RA - good at espionage )
- throne room is huge and the surrounding is dark ( how is it huge? When imu gorosei transform they become huge creatures, they won’t all fit if the room is small)

Observation Haki is not a passive ability. You have to turn it on. Imu and the Gorosei wouldn't see the need to use it when the only one they knew was there was an old man incapable of harming them or escaping. Observation Haki users can be surprised
