Great throwback to the HH book from Typhus perspective where he describes how people feel they should bow to Horus but when the Lion walking into the room bowing isn’t even a question.

The Lion already said he wasn’t going to rule . The Lion is obviously going to change the Dark Angel culture.

He doesn't want to rule, he just wants to find his sons, destroy the enemies of humanity and defend his fathers Imperium.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dante willingly gives his position as warden to Lion.

By the way: Asmodai is not the Head Chaplain in the Dark Angels Reclusiam. That is Grand Master Sapphon and he is the polar opposite to Asmodai, he is calm, forgiving, protects civilians like a Lion damned Salamander and he has absolute authority over the likes of Asmodai. When he says the Dark Angels Interrogator Chaplains must accept the Lions absolution, they must do it.

The return of The Lion has put me back in touch with my love of knights when I was in elementary school. I still have my Angels of Death codex from 1996 and now I'm finally making my own DA succssor chapter. They're off to a great start!

It's funny, I kinda feel how the Fallen do. The Dark Angels were my intro to space marines, but I fell outta favor with them while reading the HH books. Absolutely love the character development they gave the Lion now, and I feel myself being pulled back to loving them again.

I like how the Lion snatching Fallen away from the Interrogator-Chaplains is going to cause serious internal reflection for the Dark Angels. I hope this brings Sapphon into relevance as I can see some seriously heated debates erupt between him and Asmodai with Azrael caught in the middle.

Certain Blood Angels successors had concerns about Gulliman and Primaris

I think some of this is just because the Blood Angels Primarch isn't here. If Sanguinus had returned then the Blood Angels would be speaking very differently

Perhaps the most interesting part of all of the text, to me, was the Interrogator-Chaplain’s statement that he has heard of other cases where the Lion has intervened in an interrogation, and after a time, returned custody of the Fallen under interrogation to the Interrogator-Chaplain. He does not seem to want to simply halt the way that the Unforgiven have been handling the Fallen, altogether, which means he is not just remaking the culture of the Unforgiven chapters entirely.

Abaddon keeps helping resurrecting Loyal Primarchs by doing what he’s doing… and now he’s in the webway?… Isn’t that where Jaghatai last went?!? Will Jaghatai see Abbadon and chase him out bringing him back?? Will Abbadon accidentally discover Jaghatai??

Pretty sure that mystery chapter is the deathwatch, they’re fighting Xenos specifically and he mentions leading a fire team which I believe are the names of elite deathwatch squads.

The Knight of abhorrence is an old one, since they are one who told Azrael about strange events at the Somnian stars, where the battle with Lion and Angorn end up fighting. And there was a massive gathering of the unforgiven in that battle. So I am guess the Kights of Abhorrence operate near by, and the test of loyalty is because they only sent a small force to help.

The Knights of Abhorrence actually look pretty cool. Black and dark green color scheme plus a hoplite facemask heraldry. Worthy of being a Dark Angels successor chapter.

You know, that blood angel does have a point and makes me realise something. Dante is older and more experienced than both the loyalist primarchs. They where both in stasis for 10, 000 years. Pretty sure they both only have a few hundred years of proper life and experience… So in a way, yeah, who is the Lion to just come rolling back and start throwing his weight around. I feel like the primarchs had their day in the heresy and they fucked up. People shouldn’t automatically follow them. Gulliman was a bit of an exception as he’s such a good statesman and administrator

The Lion in Son of the Forest is an amazing character and the hero 40k needs. So glad GW is ditching the gRiMDerP everyone is a bad guy narrative moving forward.
