How Covid Can Make Everything Smell Rotten

Marcel Kuttab is one of the many people who have been diagnosed with Parosmia, an altered sense of smell, due to COVID-19. She initially lost her sense of smell completely, and when it did come back, it wasn’t the same. “It even smelled bad when I was taking a bath or shower with shampoo and conditioner and soaps,” she told Inside Edition Digital. “They all smelled weird. Toothpaste tasted funny.” Thankfully, doctors believe patients can recover from Parosmia with time and smell training. #InsideEdition

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME THING GOING ON RIGHT NOW!!!!
I had Covid almost a year ago and I lost my sense of smell and taste. it’s been altered. It’s not fun. Glad to know that I’m not alone with this.

It’s been 7 months since I’ve had Parosmia. It has really been really detrimental to my mental health as I find no joy in eating food anymore. Just trying to find something to eat is really tiring and annoying. I really hope I recover soon as well as everyone else who is suffering from Parosmia.

I feel bad for all those who has to go through this. It must be pretty frightening to have all your smell senses altered.

I lost my sense of smell for 9 mo. Then it was off and on for 2 months…. Finally it’s back full time!! I’m 59 and that was my only covid symptom.

I’m grateful to have gotten through the pandemic without catching COVID and that I’ve gotten my COVID vaccinations.

Most of my smell came back after a month after contracting covid19. But for a few months following... poop smelled 'sweet' or flowery, and cleaning products smelled very different. Still, certain candles and perfumes smell different than what I remember them to be. But most food smells and tastes have returned, and in some cases I think my sense of smell/taste has gotten better/stronger! And poop now smells bad again lol

I lost my sense of smell in the Navy in 2016 from autoimmune encephalitis and depending on what the brain inflammation is from, it can return. But if there is brain damage like a patient with head trauma then it can be permanent. I also went deaf and gained my hearing back.

I definitely have this, had covid over Christmas time 2020, smell started coming back in March but got stuck on a smell you only get passing a paper mill on the highway. Talk about gross.

So am I the only one who thinks everything smells nasty? It all smells the same. Like rotten flesh or a dead animal.

Me over here who’s never had covid and can barely smell things: I think something is officially medically wrong with my scent or something 😃👌

I personally never got COVID but I feel bad for the people who did. I just recently received the second dose and will be fully vaccinated this Sunday. I’m praying for everyone with COVID and hope they make a full recovery.

I've had Covid on March 2021
And my sense of smell has been changed and really bad. I am so desperate and frustrated so I developed having anxiety and became more depressed because smell is odd for me. It's a struggle.

All I heard was she needs to continue to expose herself to heavy drinking and she should be fine

This kind of stuff is why I'm still wearing a mask out at the store even though I'm vaccinated. Her nerves have been damaged by the virus somehow. Some have had a lingering, permanent brain fog from other nerves being damaged in a similar fashion. That's not a chance I'm willing to take!
