One has to cut their cloth to suit their size. Yes Ghana has become more expensive but there are ways around it. Move out of Accra, or if you want to stay in Accra, move to a cheaper area. Eat local food instead of living big, buying imported goods from the supermarket, taking Uber everywhere and renting in the most expensive areas. I live in the Akuapem mountains on a one-acre compound. Ghc100 ($10) electricity lasts me for more than two weeks and my water bill cost me ghc19 (ghc10 being the service charge) last month. I have a big tank and am never without water. I own my three houses on my compound and pay no rent or mortgage. So one needs to balance things

Point made sister. Accra is too expensive and it has literally created a class divide where local people cannot afford to enjoy the high life

It's also depends how you want to leave your life. If you want to live flashy life you'll spend more.

Demand and supply issues. Most people would like to be in Accra. But there are other comparably great places in Ghana.

The prime locations in every major city are expensive. The Eastern part of the city from Circle to the seashore are expensive. The western part from Circle to Kasoa is cheaper but they are not the trendy places except Tesano and MacCarthy Hill. Accra North all the way to Nsawam is also affordable. Old Accra is the hood 😊

Accra is "the Capitol" of Ghana making it a business legal hub in comparison to all of the other cities & towns in the country & this why most always end up migrating inland & away from the rural but rather more so right in the 🖤 of Accra. In America the capital is Washington D.C. but it's important to remember that each state within the country also has a capital so for instance the capital of the state I was born in which is California, is Sacramento California & the following is what makes the capital of the state of California its business legal hub, the State Capitol is the seat of the California state government, located in Sacramento, the state capital of California. The building houses the chambers of the California State Legislature, made up of the Assembly and the Senate, along with the office of the governor of California & So these type of area's are usually known provide for providing more job opportunities than say that of much more rural area's & this is why these area's will "always" end up overcrowded & to combat that along w/ a plethora of convenience then I hope that this would explain how a lot of business goods & services in area's like these will be priced so if your apart of the returning diaspora THEN PLEASE BRANCH OUT away from Accra for some extremely nice quality & affordable living like even I had to do after a few years of staying in Ghana 🇬🇭

overpriced should have been the right word, not overrated. Ghana/Africa is beginning to enjoy some positives, let's not spoil it.

things are not rosy here, but we're trying

We made the same mistake when relocating to 🇧🇧 Barbados!!

It was ignorant of us not to calculate what our income would be!!

Every Capital City in the world is expensive. Accra is not exception so if people are surprised, it means they haven’t done their research. Everything is relative to the situation. If you’re wealthy, many things don’t seem expensive. If you choose to live a particular lifestyle, that’s beyond your means, everywhere will seem expensive.

From what I gathered. Some people are automatically going to the comments to critique the caption rather than watch the video.

The content creator Ondiro and this lady speaking; Ivy Prosper are two different people. Ivy was interviewed by Ondiro. Ivy is giving sound advice.

Also, the content creator of the video needs to change the caption. Has accidentally made Ivy the fall person for mistranslation of the word overrated instead of overpriced.

Ivy did not make this video. She was interviewed and placed under the wrong caption. Overpriced not Overrated.

Hope that clears up the misunderstanding.

Many of these comments are alarming. Ivy is doing her best to give us the good, bad and concerning things about Ghana 🇬🇭 and many of these comments seem to attack her.

Keep up the good work Ivy

Glad I heard this. It would be a dream to live there.♡ My sons father was born in Accra. But I don't want a high life. Just a simple adventuresome one by the water on high energy land.🤞🏻🌠🙏🏻❤️

Well said, and generally speaking, Accra is expensive. An honest video.

Overrated is a very offensive word. You can say overpriced without tearing a country that’s trying hard to build itself up dowj

Accra isn't entirely expensive. It's where you buy or choose to spend your money
