Inmate found beaten to death in Cook County Jail cell

An inmate was beaten to death inside his Cook County Jail cell, authorities said Thursday.

That cursed place is no joke... I spent three months there due to a mixup just to have my charges dropped. Death, sickness, and wickedness all around. After getting my head busted from behind, I ended up taking care of an 70-80 year old in the medical wing who the nurses/orderlies just laughed at as he sat in his own excrement. And during the height of covid? Even worse.. no yard, no privileges, no library, no joke.

So in other words this guy got a death sentence for bringing a gun to a hospital while others go free for actual armed robberies.

They didn’t try to save his life. They waited till the beatdown was over and dragged him out by his legs.

This place is hell on earth. Been here a few times when I was young and dumb. Last time I was here my celly had a blade and he was mentally disturbed. Seen many fights. I found it pretty hard to sleep that long week waiting to post

My brother was there in division 9 for almost 3 years waiting for his trial, yes indeed Hell on earth. Inhumane conditions, filthy and over populated. RIP 🙏

If the deceased was a legal firearm owner without priors who brought a gun into a university hospital then that's not a death sentence yet he dies while awaiting trial and numerous felons are released after a brief incarceration to kill again. How is this bail reform program to protect misdemeanor offenders from the hardcore lifers working out?

You’re already in jail, and no matter how bad your situation is there is always at least a tiny chance that you may get out even if the crime is horrible. There are people who get charged with murder, but walk away free. Why would you want to jeopardize the chance you may have, even if it’s not much? There are cameras and people who love to talk in jail and there’s no where to run to. The guards will make sure they find out who did it and any chance you had is gone. Nobody in there is worth your freedom, believe me.

My pops fought basically a life sentence for 1 1/2yrs my freshman year. Never complained or told me anything about it but me made it home just after my graduation in 2019
