How do you know they didn't drill all the way through the back side of the pipe?

Question: Would a putty like this be appropriate to use on the hot line for a hot water heater? It looks like we had a squirrel that was in the attic chew on ours and punctured the PVC, so I was wondering if this would be appropriate to use for that or if the section should just be replaced.

Could've saved a lot of money if my parents did not have plumber fix it. All he did was apply rubber PVC coupling with fastener on the PVC pipe after cutting out 2 sq ft drywall and didn't patch the wall back up for $1100. Plumber thieves... God told me simply applying a waterproof silicone to patch up the hole would've worked.🙄

Just cut out a nice square piece of the drywall so you can fully access the pipe take a piece out of the pipe slap a repair part on it glue the thing up bang couple pieces of wood on the drywall cut a square out that is same size as the cut out area and screw and all home patch your square up and skim the area with some plaster three passes cause first and second will shrink slightly then when done sand it all down and then paint the sucker job done correct way and the way it will last till the end of time
