Our music video project for Calculus 2014. A math parody of "Counting Stars" by One Republic. Starring Trevor Moses and Cody Wintermute.

Lyrics:

This year, I've been, I've been taking Calc.
Preparing for this test we'll take in May.
And trust us, we've been, working hard this time.
So no more doubting answers.
We'll be scoring fives!
Yeah, we'll be scoring... fives.

Here's Chapter 1
Most of it we knew.
But buckle up and hit review.
To define domain, these must be true.
No negatives in your roots

Logs must stay positve
These can't equal this
But let's move on, domain is old.
How bout something new and bold?

Cartesian equations need x and y
to solve an equation
Parametric equations depend on t
to solve two equations
Odd Even, describe, functions
A E to the RT calculates half life

A limit, limit, means you're getting close
to an x value without reaching it
And be sure, to check, from the left and right.
just because you can't plug in,
doesn't mean its DNE

Then there's the I V, I V T which says
Continuous functions on a to b
Will take on every value in the span
F of c will be between
F of a and F of b

Sandwich Theorem
makes the limits squeeze
to meet each other at point c.
As long as c ain't infinity.
Those keep going
watch the ends

Holes, jumps and asymptotes
these go and break the flow
To be continuous, it must show,
The limit and function are equal

The definition of derivatives
is the limit of h
as h goes to zero
of x plus h subtract x all over h

And If that's too much, there's another way
The alternative definition says
F of x minus f of a
all over x minus a
as x approaches a

on graph f of x slope is just f'
which is equal to the tangent line
Displacement tells how, tells how far its moved
and velocity can be graphed
it shows the tangent too.

oh whoah whoah oh

Take that power
and multiply
by coefficients
then take away one

fg' plus
f'g
equals the deriva
tive of fxg

f over g
is f'g
subtract g'f
over the square of g

If it's complex
don't you fret
f' u' will
find the derivative

Every trig function has derivatives

Exponentials, logs, and inverse pairs
have their derivatives, so take some care.
Implicit Differentiation
Take everything's derivative
and solve for y'

Inverse trig has its own derivative
Loads of square root symbols that make them tough
Just one more chapter to go then we're done.
We ran out of lyrics
So here's the crash course

Extreme values
mins and max
Critical points
mean zero or DNE

Interval closed use
EVT
look at the end points
They'll be max or min

The MVT
will say that
The tangent line equals
the secant line

Avoid waste and
optimize
Mins and maxes
will help all the time

This song's over
Hope you learned
everything Ms. Moore
taught us this term.
