I am always surprised how bad Korean MMOs are with their world building and story-telling considering they have so many good manhwa/webtoons around MMOs like Legend of the moonlight sculpture. Even the game made on that Manwha felt soul-less and an absolute cash grab.

Korean MMOs can safely be written off as bloat ware. At this point if you spend money on Korea MMOs or Gacha games you lose your right to complain. Everyone knows what they're in for now. lol

i second this.. they have so much potential great graphic great characters.. but the gameplay and even storytelling is so dull..

To be sure, the original Grenado Espada was full of autoplay on PC too. Just about every zone you went to was littered with folks AFK farming.

One thing to add:
Considering how stupid profitable this garbage appears to be, I can't say I really blame Korean devs for churning it out. The real problem, as always, is people actually putting money into crap like that.

Another major disapointment that has become CONSISTANT is the creation of these half/low-effort mmo designed for mobile which already has massive limitation do to the nature of smartphones being absolute trash compared to a pc or game console

I agree 100% I completely refuse to play an autoplay game it's boring and such an insult to my intelligence now I completely understand why autoplay exists but why autoplay a game? You get no sense of escapism or fun if an AI is doing everything for you look at some of the greatest games/series in the world Final fantasy, The Witcher, The elder scrolls none of them are autoplay and have helped many a gamer like myself escape the harsh reality if I wanted to play a game while I studied I'd just put my book down and play Doom or something not open a shitty mmo and let the AI do the work for me

koreans are programmed to consume, and the game companies there are happy to give them something shitty to consume. every time I hear "new korean MMO" I cant help but imagine pretty graphics, shallow if not non-existent storyline, and a predatory cash shop. a game solely to grind your time and wallet on. I can never get excited about it. I am surprised how many people are continually bamboozled by this shit.

I wished the trailers had to include a visual tag to indicate its just another garbage auto play game because the trailers always catch me and then when the games release I can't ever bring myself to install once I see auto path buttons.

What these Korean MMOs accomplish is to demonstrate the potential return for investors. As long as they keep generating massive amounts of revenue, they will keep making them.

Something good may come of it in the long run. Eventually.

I honestly don't believe it's just Korean mmo's, for the simple fact that most of the good and decent one's do come from Korea with the expect like 3 Chinese one's.

Also gotta remember the West is more console, and mobile phone base from the beginning. Heck Japan also barely does mmo's, their gaming catalog is most JRPG's.

You can't really count on the West to make good ( and stay good) mmo's that at least 80% of people will enjoy and continue to ACTUALLY want to play.

Now I finally get why all mobile mmo have auto-play!!
Because you use one hand to keep your phone right in front of your eyes, since you can barely see anything and the other hand is busy playing with your joystick!

It's common sense really, most who has time to play don't have money, most who has money don't have time to play, therefore P2W auto-play is the only way to go for game developers who want to make money... and they all want to make money.

This is honestly similar to scamming at this point the similarities are there it’s just hidden behind a video game so most wouldn’t suspect it of greedy or malicious intentions. It’s simply copy pasting existing format to trick players to playing putting a small investment of time or money and by the time the realize that it isn’t fun the company would have already made enough money in total from its initial player base into the millions, keep the game up for a couple of months to maybe 1 or 2 years shut it down and simply redo the process. I agree a simulator is about the best way you can put these games it’s a shame that unfortunately the numbers don’t lie and these games are highly profitable despite disregarding morals and ethics in game design or monetization.
