I downloaded the PiXel update and I am very happy with the hardware accelerated improvements.
Audio, Video, and Chrome are working great. The Chrome is much faster and youtube works better.
Music playlists sound good. Overall, the updates feel smoother and faster. I don't have any stuttering in 480 full screen.

Hey ETA, any chance you could do a video on installing retropie on top of raspbian? Im looking to do this on my pi that is coming soon, but I can't find a good video teaching how to do it. Thanks

Silly question but last night I did Debian install from Berryboot and the desktop looks just like the one you presenting is it safe to assume I have pixel desktop?

Did you use Wi-Fi or Ethernet? That could have been the problem.
